I’m a writer and editor living in Brooklyn.
Currently, I’m the Editorial Director of Observer. I’m also a contributing editor at Warscapes, an independent online magazine that provides a lens into current conflicts across the world. My writing can be seen in The New York Times, Billboard, VICE, The Week, and elsewhere.
I hold an M.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. My academic career focused on Arabic literature, both classical and contemporary. I left academia for journalism in hopes to take part in a more accessible, inclusive discourse.
